The country is very much characterized by its mountains, as about 94% of the area is located at an altitude of over 1000 meters. Here you will find the Issyk-Kul, the second largest lake in the world and the endless expanses and huge mountain peaks of the popular Tian Shan Mountains, which even UNESCO has designated a World Heritage Site.
