5 Instagram Hotspots in Thailand

Table of Contents

A paradise like Thailand provides a variety of photogenic locations. If you like to take pictures and are always looking for unique, "instagram-worthy" motifs, then this post is perfect for you. We'll introduce you to the 5 Instagram hotspots in Thailand, as well as tips and tricks to snap successful Instagram pictures. Your followers will be amazed for sure!

Instagram Hotspot: Koh Nang Yuan Viewpoint

One of the most popular photo spots is Koh Nang Yuan Viewpoint. To get there, you can hire a captain in Koh Tao to take you to Koh Nang Yuan on his traditional longtail boat. The crossing takes about 30 minutes, which you can enjoy overlooking the passing picturesque scenery. Upon arrival, an entrance fee of 100 baht (about €2.50) is required to enter the island. Now the adventure can begin.

From the pier you have to follow the signs to the viewpoint, which will lead you over a footbridge, along the beach to the rocks. This is how you get to the viewpoint. The view provides the perfect photo motif and is guaranteed to get you some likes on Instagram.

Tip: The typical Thai boats are perfect for another snapshot. You can sit on the hull of the boat during the crossing, which is complemented by the shiny blue sea and the approaching mysterious island in the background a wonderful motif.  5 Instagram Hotspots in Thailand

Instagram Hotspot: Grand Palace Bangkok

The Grand Palace in Bangkok covers an area of 2.35 million square meters, so there are plenty of motifs for the perfect picture!

There are many different temples and statues on the grounds, all stylishly decorated with colorful tiles and decorations - the perfect backdrop for any photo. The palace is easily accessible from all over Bangkok. To do so, you can choose to arrive by boat, train or cab. The entrance fee to the palace is 500 baht (about €13). As in all valuable complexes in Thailand, there is a dress code. Your outfit should therefore not be too revealing. However, you also have the option to rent a sarong for an additional fee, with which you can then properly cover yourself.

The palace also houses the Emerald Buddha, considered one of the most important Buddha statues in Thailand - well worth a visit.  5 Instagram Hotspots in Thailand

Instagram Hotspot: Koh Phi Phi Viewpoint

As one of the highest points on Koh Phi Phi, the viewing platform is perfect for an Instagram picture. Here you have a fantastic panoramic view of the tropical paradise. The turquoise sea, lined by white sandy beach, which borders on lush green jungle.

To give you this view, a path leads from the main road to the platform. Although this hike is fast, it can be very sweaty in the tropical temperatures. Therefore, if you want to cool down after the climb, you will find several cafes at the platform that offer chilled coconuts, soft drinks and snacks.

In order to share the view with as few other tourists as possible, it is recommended to get to the viewpoint as early as possible. This is worth it for the light conditions alone, which are best for photography after sunrise or at sunset.

Watch out: There are even 3 viewing platforms on the island, all of which offer a beautiful view. The most popular is Koh Phi Phi Viewpoint 2, because it is the highest and offers the best view.  5 Instagram Hotspots in Thailand

Instagram Hotspot: White Temple

The north of Thailand is neglected by many travelers, but even here there are impressive photo motifs. These include the White Temple (Wat Rong Khun) in Chiang Rai, as an absolute Instagram hotspot!

It is located a bit north of Chiang Mai and can be visited from there with a day trip. The temple is visually one of the most impressive in all of Thailand. The immaculate white paint, intricate design and attention to detail are truly breathtaking. This stunning work of art was created by local artist Ajarn Chalermchai Kositpipat, who designed and built the temple himself.

The White Temple is definitely the most photogenic in all of Thailand and the long journey from the south pays off.

Again, the typical temple dress code applies here. If you don't want to have a borrowed sarong on your Instagram picture, you should choose your outfit accordingly.  5 Instagram Hotspots in Thailand

Pai Canyon

If we stay directly with the Instagram hotspots in the north of Thailand, then Pai Canyon (Kong Lan) cannot be missed. Pai is a small hippie town located 3 hours north of Chiang Mai. From there you can get to Pai by minibus. On the about 3-hour drive over mountains, through forests, past remote villages you reach a hill, here lies Pai.

Green, lush jungle awaits you there, in stark contrast to the sandy beaches to the south, but just as photogenic.

The hotspot in Pai is the incredibly picturesque gorge with breathtaking views of the valley. About 5 minutes of walking up steps will bring you to the first viewpoint, where most visitors gather to snap their pictures right there. If you have the courage to continue along the narrow ridges, you will reach less crowded viewpoints that offer an unforgettable experience. The narrow paths are very dusty and lead to unsecured slopes of up to 30 meters on both sides. Sturdy shoes are an absolute must for this! Please be careful and know your limits.

The canyon is considered the absolute hotspot for sunsets in Pai. However, this also means that there will be a lot of people at this time. If you want to do your photo shoot undisturbed, then the early morning hours are best suited for it.  5 Instagram Hotspots in Thailand
