Bali is one of the most popular destinations for surfers - and rightly so. There you will find gorgeous beaches on which turquoise, crystal clear waves break, white sand from which huge cliffs rise and make you marvel. Whether you are a beginner or a pro surfer, there is something for every surfing level. To get an overview of the most popular surf spots, we present you today the 5 best spots, which you should definitely remember.
The best time to go surfing in Bali
Surfing in Bali is possible all year round, there is no high or low season per se. The variety of spots makes it possible that you can always find somewhere a wave that is good to surf. So if you travel to Bali during the dry season, you should stick to the coast in the southwest of the island. However, with the onset of the rainy season, it becomes increasingly windy there and conditions deteriorate. Then it's time to head for the beaches along the east coast. Depending on how the rainy season unfolds, however, the conditions also change and you should always keep an eye on the surf forecast to check.
Medewi
If you drive from Denpasar about two to three hours north along the west coast, you will reach this popular spot. The wave is known as the longest left wave of Bali and allows up to 500m long rides. The distance from the tourist stronghold of Kuta has the advantage that the wave is not as crowded as many other line-ups in Bali, despite its growing popularity. The beach break is surrounded by black sandy beach where locals also like to spend their time.
