Koh Tao: Nang Yuan Terrace Viewpoint

If your trip takes you to the beautiful island of Koh Tao, then great places to admire sunsets await you. On this island, Sairee Beach is considered the place to be. It is perfect for a long beach day where you will be surrounded by restaurants, music and people. Due to the location of the beach, which stretches along the west coast of the small island, you can experience incredible sunsets here. However, if you are looking for a special place to spend the best time of the day, then you should visit this beach. Insider tip follow: Embark on the path to the Nang Yuan Terrace Viewpoint.

You will find this viewpoint at the Sunset View Restaurant, just off the neighboring island of Koh Nang Yuan. From there you will reach a beach, which offers you an incredible panorama: The small island of Koh Nang Yuan with the setting sun right next to it. From here you can see the sun gradually merge with the sea until it finally disappears completely. But especially then the spectacle in the sky really gets going, when the clouds and the sky are immersed in bright colors.

Koh Lipe: Sunset Beach

When you the long journey to Koh Lipe, it pays off just because of the sunset. There is not exactly made a secret of the place for the most beautiful sunset, because a whole beach was named after it.

Sunset Beach is located in the northwest of the island and is characterized by crystal clear water, lined with white sand and surrounded by palm trees. From there you look out over the calm sea shimmering in the evening light and have a wonderful view of the sun slowly descending and bringing the day to an end. Sunset Beach is the evening place to be on Koh Lipe. At sunset, the beach is the most crowded and everyone looks spellbound at the horizon, before they start into the evening.

Koh Phi Phi: Viewpoint

If you follow the "Tsunami Evacuation Route" you will reach the highest point of the island. From here you have a breathtaking view over Koh Phi Phi Don and Koh Phi Phi Lee in the distance. This is the absolute hotspot for sunsets on the island and accordingly always very well attended. Nevertheless, we recommend that you do not miss this view and enjoy a picturesque sunset.

The ascent you should plan with about 20 to 30 minutes walk through the jungle, which can be more strenuous than you think in the tropical temperatures, but is worth it in any case. Once you arrive, you can refresh yourself at a snack bar with a cool drink and then choose a seat for the sunset show. An absolutely gigantic view!

Pai: Kong Lan

Sunsets are not only beautiful at the water's edge, but also in Thailand's higher elevations there are spectacular places to marvel at the daily spectacle of nature. This includes the Pai Canyon (Thai: Kong Lan), which is located just outside the small mountain village of Pai. A unique scenery awaits you there, which a staircase at the end of the parking lot will bring you close to. In the distance you can see the hilly landscape, which is bathed in warm evening light as the sun slowly sinks. Lots of greenery surrounds Pai Canyon and contrasts great with the sky. The sun moves towards the horizon and finally disappears behind the mountains in the distance, before it lets the sky shine in all colors.

To secure a good spot, it pays to arrive early, as the gorge is very popular for watching sunsets.

Chiang Mai: Samoeng Forest Viewpoint

Combined with a bit of driving, out of the city and into nature, you arrive at the Samoeng Forest Viewpoint near Chiang Mai. At this viewpoint, as the name suggests, a wonderful view over the Samoeng Forest awaits you. The mountainous landscape is covered with lush green trees and stretches as far as the eye can see.

From the vantage point, you look directly at the fading sun, which dives behind all the layers of the mountains. On some days, clouds shimmer in all imaginable colors and, together with the landscape, conjure up a breathtaking backdrop. Due to its location, slightly outside the city, you may have to share the viewpoint with only a few other tourists. However, it is definitely worth the trip to enjoy an unforgettable sunset.
