Climate in Myanmar: Packing list for dry and rainy season

The climate in Myanmar can be divided into the dry season and the rainy season. The dry season usually begins in October and ends in May. Then the rainy season follows and the monsoon starts to blow.

The temperature in the dry season, especially from November to February, is generally colder in the north and relatively warm in the south. During the rainy season, temperatures can get quite hot and humidity is high due to the monsoon rains.

Myanmar can generally be visited all year round and if you are prepared for some short but intense rainy hours during the rainy season, it is no problem to make your trip during this time as well.

Recommended vaccinations for Myanmar

In case of entry from a yellow fever area or stay of more than twelve hours in transit of a yellow fever area, all persons from the age of one year have to prove a yellow fever vaccination.

If you are travelling for less than four weeks, you should have a full poliomyelitis (polio) vaccination. Make sure that your standard immunizations according to the vaccination calendar of the Robert-Koch-Institute are up to date.

Basically, less is more. The important documents such as passport and visa may not be missing of course. With light luggage it is easier and simpler to travel. Also note that for domestic flights in Myanmar often only 20 kg per person are allowed. Also, with a light suitcase on the outbound flight, there is more space for travel souvenirs during the trip.
