The organizers of the Rheingau Founder's Prize know that starting a business in times of COVID-19 requires an extra dose of courage and stamina. With more than 30 applications, the event started in November 2020. The Founder's Award was created together with Rheingauer Volksbank and the three regional partners Bäcker Dries, KISICO & Wachendorff.
Together, they are looking for the most innovative ideas that address social, environmental and sustainable issues, supporting original and sustainable start-up ideas in the region. The competition is divided into three categories. The category best start-up of Geisenheim University of Applied Sciences and EBS University awards three prizes to alumni, students or employees of the two universities who have already founded their own company through outstanding entrepreneurial action.
The best idea during the study period crowns three of the most innovative ideas, enrolled students of the two universities, where the implementation of the idea is still pending. The third and final category honours the three best start-ups from the Rheingau, which is awarded regardless of affiliation to the two universities, but requires a personal connection to the Rheingau. Thanks to the support of Rheingauer Volksbank and the three regional partners, the best three ideas from each category will receive a total of 7500 euros in prize money, which will help the three winners to realise and further develop their idea.
This is how TripLegend received the Rheingau Founder's Prize
All applicants have to deliver a 5-minute pitch, which is then judged by a number of experts from the Rheingauer Gründungsfabrik, two-thirds by the online audience and one-third by the online audience. Two hours of varied programming with numerous speaker changes and strict adherence to time constraints made the digital awards ceremony an interesting online experience, with between 110 and 130 participants in attendance across the board.
Thanks to two of our three founders, Alexander Ditzel and Martin Ditzel, who are EBS University graduates, we can proudly say that TripLegend was able to convince the jury in all evaluated categories of problem presentation, solution approach, degree of innovation, market potential and implementation and secured the first prize in the category best start-up founded by EBS University graduates.
We as TripLegend are very happy about this award and thank the Rheingau Founder's Award for the interest, commitment and support of start-ups dealing with social, environmental and sustainable Topics occupy.
