Climate in Thailand: packing list for every season

Thailand is located in the tropics and has a humid tropical savannah climate with year-round rainfall in the northern part and a tropical monsoon climate in the southern part. Due to the size of the country, the climate varies from region to region. The seasons are roughly divided into the rainy season from June to October, the dry season from November to February and the Thai summer from March to May.

The summer differs from the dry season only with higher temperatures of more than 35°C. Temperatures in most regions range from 26 to 30°C and hardly fluctuate. Only in the higher altitudes in the north the temperatures can vary more and in summer the average temperature is 25°C and in winter it is 13°C.

Thailand is also affected by climate change and the weather is constantly changing. Thus, it may rain for a week even during the dry season or be correspondingly dry during the rainy season.

Dry season in Thailand

The dry months in Thailand are usually distinguished between the cool season and the hot season. The months from November to February are considered the cool season. Temperatures during this time are significantly lower than in summer and "only" reach up to 33°C, while at night they drop to 14°C. These months are often called the best time to travel, which is why most tourists travel to Thailand from December onwards. This leads to higher prices and many tourists during the high season.

The hot season, also called Thai summer, are the months between March and May. At this time, especially bathing vacations on the coasts and beaches in the south of Thailand are popular. Here the thermometer can quickly reach around 40°C and most European tourists find it too hot. From April, however, it begins to rain again in the south and the temperatures drop to a pleasant level.

Thailand rainy season

The rainy season is always from May to October and is interspersed with short but heavy rain showers, which, however, usually occur in the late afternoon or evening. At this time there are the fewest tourists and the prices are significantly lower than during the high season. Even in the rainy season, Thailand is absolutely worth a trip, as nature begins to sprout and the weather is pleasantly warm, although quite humid, despite precipitation.

Conclusion

With a Round trip with many stops it's simply easier to travel light. This means that less is more. The important documents, such as the passport, must not be missing, of course. In addition, with a light suitcase on the outbound flight also remains more space for great travel souvenirs. Don't forget to pack your swimwear for the enchanting beaches of Thailand.
