Traveling with people you don't know opens the door to new friendships. At the same time, it's exciting to meet so many people. These nine tips will help you quickly connect with your travel group.
Tip 1: The first day
If you have already flown on a plane with one or more other participants, you might have the chance to meet the others already on the transfer or at the first accommodation. Especially at smaller accommodations it is likely that you will run into each other. If there is still time until dinner, this is the first chance to do something together and get to know the others. What you do does not have to be anything special. For example, walk a little through the streets of the city in which you have landed.
On the first evening, when everyone has arrived, there will be a Welcome Dinner. Here you will officially meet all your fellow travelers for the first time. Be on time and don't leave before everyone else - the later the hour, the more intense the conversations will be. Sometimes it's worth foregoing a little sleep for this.
Tip 2: Good mood
You are on vacation! No time to spread bad mood permanently. Leave the worries of your job and everyday life behind for a moment and enjoy the time of your trip to the fullest. Get into the positive vibe of your group and let yourself be enchanted by the culture of your destination. Your destination can cast a spell on you, get involved and radiate the positive energy that this special adventure will give you.
Tip 3: Always with you
Take part in optional activities, also get involved in things where you have to jump over your own shadow. Some things may be a little more uncomfortable than going back to your accommodation. But it's worth it not only for the new experience, but also for the new contacts made during the special activity.
Tip 4: Be on time and connect
It's not just at the welcome dinner that the rule applies: if you keep everyone waiting, you'll make yourself unpopular. If you know you'll need a little longer in the morning, set your alarm a little earlier. This may be a little inconvenient, but it's worth it to be at the meeting point at the specified time. On any trip, there may be decisions that need to be made together as a group. Be open to the arguments of others. Put forward your own point of view, but if you are outvoted, accept that. If you don't fold your arms all the time, stand up straight and look your counterpart in the eye, you have a good chance of being perceived as likeable.
Tip 8: Balanced conversations in your travel group
When you are just getting to know each other, everyone has a lot to say. Nevertheless, make sure you also listen! Maybe not every little story from your life is as interesting as you think.
