Uganda weather

Uganda has a temperate subtropical climate and is therefore more pleasant in terms of temperatures than many other African countries. Since Uganda is very close to the equator, there is hardly any temperature fluctuation. Basically you can expect temperatures between 20 and 30 degrees. Rarely do temperatures exceed 30 degrees and fall below 20 degrees.

December and February are the hottest months, while July and August are the coldest months with an average of 20 degrees. If you want to travel to Uganda, you should avoid the rainy seasons from March to May and September to November, as it can make gorilla trekking (a great highlight in Uganda) difficult.

Extra information for gorilla trekking

Gorilla trekking can be done all year round in Uganda. The best time for gorilla trekking is during the months of June, July, August, September and December. This is because when it rains less, the parks are drier, making it easier to walk and observe the gorillas, gorilla tracks are easier to read, and the gorillas are more active in their search for food.

The months of January and February also have their advantages, as fewer people can be expected and it is also quite dry. In Bwindi National Park the average temperature all year round is about 15 degrees in the morning and 25 degrees in the afternoon.

Make sure that your standard immunizations are according to the vaccination calendar of the Robert-Koch-Institute are up to date.

Conclusion

Basically, less is more. The important documents, such as the passport, must not be missing, of course. On a round trip with many stops, it is simply easier to travel light. In addition, a light suitcase on the outbound flight also leaves more space for travel souvenirs.
