Many people associate travel with exciting adventures, discovering new countries, some new encounters, touching experiences, immersion in foreign worlds or just fun and happiness. Traveling also makes you smarter, lets you relax, switch off and inspire. All this can be felt and perceived even more intensely alone, whether a cultural trip through the metropolis is pending or the impressive nature is toured.

What It Does To You To Travel Without Friends - 4 Possible Obstacles

Your 3 advantagesto travel alone

As soon as you travel alone, you are more open to other points of view. You have the feeling that you see and perceive this traveled country with completely different eyes. You meet new people, you can fully explore your travel interests without compromising and you have the sole overview of your travel budget.

But if it weren't for the angel and the devil, who sit on your shoulder and whisper to you different reasons to add obstacles to your travel adventure.

Obstacle 1 - the home

Coming to a final decision about whether or not to travel alone can be an obstacle. Days, if not weeks, go by in which the devil on your shoulder tells you about further obstacles and prevails. In addition, there is the uncertainty of traveling to a foreign country and meeting foreign people there. But you will soon realize: in the course of these days, if not weeks, your curiosity rises and it finally wins to go on your adventure alone.

Obstacle 2 - the planning

Once you have decided on your adventure alone, you start to plan it. During the planning, fears arise in you, such as the fear of loneliness. But don't let fear get you down - just distract yourself, especially on your adventure, do things and start small. Visit a trendy neighborhood instead of a desert, hike to a mountain hut, where there are sure to be other people who like to communicate, or spend the night in common rooms or dormitories. Here you will definitely lose the fear of loneliness.

Also, when planning, remember that you have to organize everything yourself and, above all, you are allowed to. The responsibility lies completely with you. If frustration builds up in you, you are completely on your own and especially if you do not find your accommodation, only a pair of eyes will search the small alleys. Does this scare you a bit? Don't worry, here you will completely enjoy the freedom and learn to love it. You don't have to stick to any agreements, you don't have to compromise and you will enjoy a freedom that will absolutely enrich you.

Obstacle 3 - the meals

Go to the movies alone, go to the Museum Going to the movies, to the museum, to the park or shopping alone has been absolutely no problem so far. At the beginning it may feel a bit strange, but with time the routine comes in. After all, you're always on the go. But what's the best way to do it on your adventure? Sitting down alone in a restaurant where the table is set and others are sitting in twos, threes or fours is scary and a weird feeling. But again, you can start small.

If this is absolutely nothing for you at the beginning, try something more informal instead. For example, a snack bar or snacks for the road. After that, you can work your way up, so to speak, dare more and more. You'll soon realize - it's unusual, but you'll get into a routine there, too.

Obstacle 4 - The conversations

Who do I talk to during my adventure? Who do I tell exciting things to? Or with whom can I get upset if something doesn't go right away?

These questions have certainly crossed your mind. Your adventure alone also means not having a permanent conversation partner. Sometimes you need someone to talk to. But again, some cultures are open and happy to talk to you. And if you need someone familiar, often a phone call home is enough and all worries and fears are forgotten.

Traveling alone is exhausting, or can be exhausting, and means a lot of time with yourself. It is not simply said that traveling alone is the key to personal development. But traveling is an enrichment for life and definitely a different encounter of your self.
