Your Guide

Hey, I am Thor

I am Thor, your expert in Iceland. I spent much of my childhood traveling in Iceland, as my father was a passionate outdoorsman. The highlands were my playground, whether on snowmobiles, super jeeps, ATVs or hiking. No free time was wasted! Every year I make it my mission to be in a unique place to see the midnight sun in the summer. The most memorable moment was on top of Snæfellsjökull at midnight in daylight! My favorite activity is hiking and climbing on one of our many outflow glaciers.

Arrival
Arrival: Reykjavik Airport (RKV) or Keflavik International Airport (KEF)
Please remember to book your flights separately and arrange a ride from the airport to the city. Reykjavik Airport is about 3,5 km and Keflavik Airport is about 50 km from the hotel. We will be happy to help you arrange a transfer. Plan your arrival so you will arrive at the airport by afternoon to start our Icelandic adventure together in the evening.
Arrival
Day 1
Day 1: Welcome to Iceland (Reykjavik)
After arriving at the airport, you will first head to the young and cosmopolitan capital of Iceland. Upon arrival in Reykjavik, we will get to know each other at a first welcome meeting and explore the city on a short walking tour. The city, situated on the coast, will win you over with its cosy cafés and bars, trendy boutiques and Nordic architecture. In the evening we will meet for dinner at the hotel and end the day with a few drinks, full of anticipation for the time to come.
Day 1
Day 2
Day 2: The Golden Circle Route: Amidst hot springs and geysers (Thingvellir)
When you think of Iceland, you immediately think of hot springs and geysers. Our first destination is Thingvellir National Park, located in the middle of a lava field. Then we marvel at steaming, water-spouting geysers. At the Geysir Service Centre you have the possibility to have lunch. In the afternoon we will explore more of Iceland's must-see natural attractions. For the adrenaline junkies among us there is the possibility to discover the second largest glacier in Iceland on a snowmobile. On this icy adventure you will drive through beautiful landscapes. In the evening we enjoy a dinner together and talk about the eventful day.
Day 2
Day 3
Day 3: Along the south coast of Iceland: raging waterfalls & black beaches (Kirkjubæjarklaustur)
Today we start with a short hike to the impressive Seljalandsfoss, Skógafoss and Kvernufoss waterfalls. By bus we drive to an extraordinary photo spot, an old airplane wreck from the US Navy, located in the middle of a lonely, black sand desert. In the very south of Iceland, right next to the small fishing village of Vík í Mýrdal, is another highlight of our tour: the Reynisfjara black sand beach. Huge basalt rocks, embedded in deep black sand offer together with the sea a great panorama. According to a legend, these gigantic basalt rocks were once trolls trying to pull ships ashore from the sea. For those who haven't seen enough, we offer the option to take a guided ice cave tour. In this unique experience, you'll wander through shimmering bluish corridors hidden in the depths of a volcano. After this eventful day full of new impressions we return to our accommodation. In a well-equipped kitchen you will have the opportunity to cook something for dinner. How about fermented shark, also called hákarl, one of the national dishes of Iceland.
Day 3
Day 4
Day 4: Vatnajökull National Park: Rivers, Glaciers & Volcanoes (Jökulsárlón)
Today, Vatnajökull National Park is on our list. This is one of Iceland's three national parks and gets its name from the glacier Vatnajökull, which it completely encloses. Together we explore the Fjadrargljufur Canyon, formed by ice age, volcanic eruptions and water, a breathtaking sight. The up to 100 m deep, densely vegetated rock formations are flowed through by crystal clear glacier water. For those who want to go high up, there is the offer of a glacier hike in Skaftafell. Hike through fascinating ice worlds and constantly changing ice formations, led by an experienced guide. After a short lunch, head to the Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon in the afternoon. This glacier rim lake filled with large ice blocks is one of the most famous sights in the country. The ice lagoon has been the location for two James Bond films. In the immediate vicinity is Diamond Beach, blocks of ice on the sand resemble diamonds glittering in the sun. In the evening we all return to our hotel for dinner.
Day 4
Day 5
Day 5: Picturesque Fjords & the Wilderness Center (Eystrahorn)
After a hearty breakfast at the hotel, the morning is reserved for a visit to what is probably the most unusual swimming pool in Europe. Situated directly on the coast, the outdoor pool at Krossnes with a water temperature of about 30 °C offers the perfect opportunity to relax with a view of the sea. Afterwards we drive along the east coast to the still unknown, but therefore even more spectacular mountain, the Eystrahorn. This is part of the Krossasnesfjall mountain range and is one of a few mountains made of gabbro, a dark, jagged lava rock. With a bit of luck you have the chance to meet sea seals, which are hanging around on the beaches here. Have you ever wanted to travel back in time? Then come with us to an abandoned Viking village. In the afternoon, a breathtaking drive through the picturesque East Fjords of Iceland awaits us. We will spend the rest of the day at the Wilderness Center, located in a valley in the middle of nowhere. If you are interested, you can go on a short hike on your own before we end the day together with the operator Denni and sit around the campfire in the evening.
Day 5
Day 6
Day 6: The Wild East of Iceland (Akureyri)
For today we have planned an unforgettable tour to Studlagil Canyon. The reddish shining basalt columns form a great contrast to the turquoise shimmering Jökla River, which flows through the canyon. After visiting the canyon you will go to the Dettifoss waterfall, which is one of the most water rich waterfalls in Europe. Masses of water plunge down here from a height of 45 metres. In the afternoon we reach the lake Mývatn, the mosquito lake. The tour continues to the Godafoss waterfall, which is also known as the waterfall of the gods among the Icelanders. The last stop of the day is the coastal town of Akureyri, where we will spend the night.
Day 6
Day 7
Day 7: The north of Iceland: On the tracks of the whales (Borgarnes)
With 23 different species of whales, Iceland is the perfect place to catch a glimpse of the giants of the seas. After a whale watching tour in Dalvík, we will choose a suitable place for lunch together. Afterwards we will visit the Tröllaskagi Peninsula in the north of Iceland, known for its huge mountains and high population of Icelandic horses. Another stop on our list is Hvítserkur, a 15 m high basalt rock stack, also known as the Troll of Northwest Iceland. At the end of the day, we will admire one of the largest volcanic craters, Grábrók, before ending the evening together with a few drinks.
Day 7
Day 8
Day 8: An adventure comes to an end: The return to Reykjavik (Reykjavik)
The last day is now dawning, but today we will still experience a lot. At the two waterfalls Hraunfoss and Barnafoss you will have another chance to take a great photo for Instagram and enjoy the beauty of the Hvalfjordur Fjord. After that we will make our way to Blue Lagoons, where we can completely relax one last time and enjoy the beauty of Iceland. Towards early evening we will reach Reykjavik again. Here you have the opportunity to explore the city on your own and shop for the last Icelandic souvenirs for the family. On our last evening we will review the whole trip and toast to the unforgettable experiences we had together. If you feel like it, you can discover the bars of the capital before heading back home tomorrow.
Day 8
Day 9
Day 9: Goodbye Iceland (Reykjavik)
The last day of your trip has arrived. After a final breakfast at the hotel, it's back to the airport to catch your flight home or to your next destination.
