Your highlight today: Explore Ilulissat on a hiking tour

After your arrival at the airport in Ilulissat you will be met by your guide. Your adventure begins with a short walk through beautiful Ilulissat while your guide tells you some interesting stories about everyday life in Greenland. You will then continue to an old Sermermiut settlement where you can enjoy the view of the ice fjords and, if you are lucky, watch some anglers fishing! After an exciting first day you will go back to the hotel, where a first dinner with some Greenlandic specialties is waiting for us.

Your highlight today: Walks through the Greenland nature

After breakfast together you will start today's excursion towards Oqaatsut - on foot. You will walk 20 kilometers through the impressive nature of Greenland, enjoy your lunch on the way and arrive in the small settlement around late afternoon. After an adventurous day it is time to enjoy your dinner together and then let the evening end comfortably.

Your highlights today: Experience a kayak tour and marvel at Ilulissat's ice fjords

Before you head back to Ilulissat, enjoy your time in Oqaatsut with a short walk through the settlement and a leisurely kayak ride. After lunch you will go back to the city by boat, along the impressive icebergs through the fjords. You can spend the evening according to your wishes.

Your highlight today: Unique landscapes in Greenland

After a hearty breakfast at the hotel, you'll head to the airport for the 45-minute flight back to Kangerlussuaq. Once you arrive, check into your hostel and wrap up warmly for the visit to Russel Glacier and the upcoming BBQ. After this exciting day, you'll enjoy dinner together and fortify yourself for the day ahead.

Polar Lodge/Old Camp

Your highlights today: Experience an adventure on the ice sheet and sleep in the ice camp

Today you will embark on a very special and unique adventure away from civilization: Your 2-day expedition to the Greenland Ice Sheet. The expedition starts in an off-road 4WD vehicle equipped with large panoramic windows so you can enjoy the magical landscape along the way. Once at Point 660, you will receive your safety briefings for the activities ahead and then set up camp for the night. Secluded from modern technological conveniences and city lights, we have a great chance to marvel at the Northern Lights in the darkness of winter. Yourdinner today will consist of simple freeze-dried foods that are easy to carry on such an expedition. Look forward to an unforgettable experience amidst the endless ice.

Camp Ice Cap

Your highlight today: Hike on the inland ice

After an adventurous night snuggled up in warm and thick sleeping bags, it's time to start the day with a high-energy breakfast. Today you will embark on an exciting route across the seemingly eternal ice fields and set your sights on the Greenland Ice Sheet. The route will be planned through safe terrain and crampons and trekking poles will give you extra grip and security. Depending on the weather, you will eat your lunch either en route or at base camp before heading back to civilization.

Your highlights today: Hike to Garnet Rock and sample local spirits

Your last day in Greenland begins. After breakfast you will pack a small lunch box and leave the hostel on foot. You will walk on rarely used paths through the beautiful nature of Greenland on the way to Garnet Rock. After about 2-3 hours you will reach Garnet Rock where you can rest and eat your packed lunch. After lunch you will have the opportunity to dig out your own piece of the famous Garnet Rock and enjoy the peace and quiet. After that you will start your way back.

Tonight you'll head to a cute local restaurant to enjoy your farewell dinner and also sample a few different local liquors.

Polar Lodge/Old Camp

Today it is time to say goodbye. After breakfast you will go to the airport, which is less than 100m away from our accommodation. Now you can take your flight back home or to any next destination.

Important information

Do you offer trip cancellation insurance?

Should you not be able to fly for health reasons, there is a Travel cancellation insurancee.g. from HanseMerkur.

What is the minimum number of participants for the trip?

This trip has a minimum number of 6 guests. If this number is not reached 30 days before the scheduled date, TripLegend has the right to cancel the trip.

Can I arrive earlier or leave later?

You can individually plan a few days in advance or add a few days to all our trips, as it suits you best. Of course, we are also happy to give you tips for accommodation!

With whom do I share a double room?

By default, you will share a double room with a person of the same sex, but you are also welcome to book a single room.

What does your collaboration with local partners look like in concrete terms?

For us, supporting locals means working only with local guides, staying in local, family-run hotels, and eating at local restaurants. We often have a social/environmental cause that we incorporate into our trips (from volunteering at a wildlife rescue center in Namibia to the support of Buddhist monks in Nepal in their daily work or visiting a school in a Soviet ghost town in Kyrgyzstan and bringing soccer balls, books, pens, etc.).

Citizens from Germany, Switzerland and Austria (and all countries that are based on this page listed) do not need a visa to enter Greenland.

When entering Greenland, no vaccinations are required apart from the standard vaccinations such as hepatitis A, B or tetanus.
