The entry requirements in Georgia have changed tremendously because of the current COVID-19 situation. To give you a good start for your trip, we have put together a guide here on things that need to be done before departure. These regulations are currently valid if you are a German citizen and want to enter Georgia with a direct flight.
Before Your Trip to Georgia
Before you start your trip, you cannot leave Germany 14 days before your departure, and you are not allowed to travel internationally. Other countries have different rules when entering Georgia, so ensure that you stay in Germany a minimum of 2 weeks before your trip.
The next step for you is to fill out this form. Here the Georgian authorities will ask you for all necessary information. You will have to indicate when and where you will arrive in Georgia, where you will be staying, and much more. So have your booking documents ready so that you can fill everything out.
Maximum 72 hours before you arrive in Georgia, you should take a COVID-19 test. To enter without any problems, you will need to present a negative COVID-19 PCR test at the border, which must be not older than 72 hours.
Inform yourself beforehand where you can do such a test and how long it takes until you get the results. For this purpose, we have also compiled a list for you, which you can find here. Just take a look to see the closest testing location to your house, and you will also find further information about the testing location. Make sure that the test centers issue you a certificate of the negative test so that you can present it at the border.
During Your Time in Georgia
If you don’t want to take the test beforehand, you will have to take it upon arrival, but this is only possible at the Tbilisi airport. Until the results are available, you will have to go into quarantine. We recommend that you take care of everything while still in Germany to start your vacation without any worries.
Your body temperature will be checked at the airport. If your body temperature is above 37.0°C, a COVID-19 test will be performed again, and you will have to stay in quarantine for at least eight days. So only travel to Georgia if you are 100% healthy.
Once you are on your well-deserved vacation, you will still have to follow some hygiene rules. In Georgia, masks are compulsory in all public, closed rooms as well as in public transport and other means of transportation. Sometimes your body temperature is controlled, and you have to disinfect your hands when you enter a store, for example.
We hope that we can make the start of your personal Georgia adventure easier. As long as you follow the procedures and take necessary precautions, we believe that you will enjoy this unique destination and return home with memories that will stay with you for a lifetime.
