Stunning Views of Ananuri Fortress
Ananuri Fortress is located 70 km away from Tbilisi.
The medieval fortress was initially built for military purposes. In the 13th century, it became the seat of the Dukes of Aragvi. During the 18th century, the castle helped guard the retreat road in the Aragvi Valley.
The location of the fortress is especially important as it was built in the valley between the two rivers of Aragvi and Vedzatkhevi. It was designed in a way the enemy would be caught immediately with the help of a “natural” gate.
You can read more about the history of the castle here.
The Historical Monuments of Mtskheta
Mtskheta is a small city that is located at the confluence of the Mtkavari and Aragvi rivers.
As the former capital of Georgia and the birthplace of Christianity in the country, Mtskheta is one of the reasons why you should add Georgia to your bucket list.
