Hey, I am Djordje

I am Djordje, your host, guide and friend during this adventure. I will do my best to share my passion for nature, our cultural heritage, Balkan mentality and humor. I hope that after the trip you can take home thousands of pictures, stories and long lasting memories. In 2010 I graduated from the University of Tourism and Hotel Management in Kotor and from then on I have always been involved in tourism and hospitality. My passion for welcoming people is still the same today as the day I became a tour guide. I am already looking forward to meeting you!

All our guests are vaccinated against COVID-19. In addition to the standard vaccinations according to the RKI, travel vaccinations against hepatitis A, and for long-term stays or special exposure also against hepatitis B, typhoid and rabies are recommended.

Day 1: Welcome to Belgrade! (Belgrade)
After your arrival you can either organize a transfer yourself or through us, which will take you to your first accommodation. There you will be met by your Serbian guide together with your fellow travelers. During a traditional first dinner you can all get to know each other and toast to the upcoming time together.

Day 2: The winery in Serbian Tuscany (Kablar)
After the first breakfast together, our trip will start with a tour of the capital of Serbia. Here we will visit some exciting places and then end the tour with refreshment in the wine lagoon. After that, our journey will continue towards Topola, stopping for lunch on the way. Arriving in the so-called "Serbian Tuscany" we will visit the winery of a local family. During a small snack and wine tasting we will learn a lot about wine making in general. our journey continues in the direction of Cacak. We check into a rural household on the hill Kablar, just a short walk from one of the most beautiful viewpoints of the country. We end the evening with a leisurely dinner in the village.

Day 3: A traditional Serbian day (Kablar)
Good morning Kablar! Today we will start our day with a traditional Serbian breakfast, which we will prepare together with our hostess. After the refreshment we will go to the village to help the residents with their work. Depending on the season, our tasks will consist of milking cows, making cheese or picking different fruits and vegetables. After lunch together, we will take a short hike in the surrounding area, descending into the Ovcarko-Kablarska Gorge and visiting the Nikolja Monastery. Tonight we will learn how the traditional Balkan strong liquor "Rakija" is made and even have a chance to prepare some ourselves. After a traditional dinner we will return to our accommodation.

Day 4: The bear safari (Kaludjerske Bare)
Today after breakfast we will go to the village of Zlakuse, a village with centuries-old traditions of pottery. Here we will even have the opportunity to try our hand at pottery. After our visit we will continue our way to Tara Mountain. We will make some stops at viewpoints and for lunch. Before we reach our accommodation on Tara Mountain, we will stop at Lake Zaovine and at the Tara National Park Information Center, where we will hear the story about the brown bear - one of the biggest attractions of the National Park. After our dinner, our next adventure is on the agenda - bear watching. There are about 60 bears in the national park, and Tara is one of the most important habitats for brown bears in Europe. The bears here are protected species and there are only 2 shelters from which to observe them feeding. During this experience we will be accompanied by a ranger who will drive us to the shelters in a jeep.

Day 5: Discover Durmitor National Park (Zabljak)
After exciting first days in Serbia, today we continue our journey towards Montenegro and Durmitor National Park. After a few hours of driving and a stop at the border, we finally reach Montenegro. We will visit the monumental concrete bridge with a cool history from World War II - the bridge at Djurdjevica Tara. The whole area around the bridge, including the Tara River and Durmitor National Park, is part of the UNECSO World Heritage Site. The Tara River is the deepest river gorge in Europe and the second deepest in the world. Here we have the opportunity to ride a zip line from one side of the bridge to the other. After lunch in one of the restaurants at the bridge, we will continue to our next accommodation in the town of Zabljak. After a subsequent excursion to the famous black lake, you can arrange your evening according to your wishes.

Day 6: Today gets wild (Budva)
After checking out we start a beautiful panoramic drive through the heart of Durmitor National Park. After some stops during the ride we head for the highlight of our day: a rafting tour on the Tara River. Starting point of the adventure is in Scepan Polje, from there a transfer will take us to the starting point of the tour. After 22 rapids and cooling down in the cold water of the Tara and admiring small waterfalls, our rafting tour ends back in Scepan Polje. On our way to the Adriatic coast of Montenegro we will make a stop in the village Trubjela. Here we will visit a beekeeper who will tell us a lot about bees and traditions of his family. After a few drinks and homemade food we will continue our journey to Budva, where we will spend the night.

Day 7: A hike with a visit to the honey farm (Podgorica)
After breakfast we check out and head towards Lovcen Mountains. Our hike today will start from Ivanova Korita plain at 1240 meters above sea level. Our route will take us through beautiful beech forests with breathtaking views of the coast. On the top of the mountain we will have a chance to visit an Austro-Hungarian fortress. We will also walk through the old village of Dolovi, also called the "Sunshine Village". After a total length of 9.5 kilometers and an ascent and descent of 350 meters, we deserve a refreshment in a local restaurant! After that, we will take a trip to the second highest peak Lake Peak to visit one of the most important cultural and historical monuments of Montenegro. Afterwards, we will visit one of the most beautiful viewpoints in Montenegro, overlooking the Bay of Kotor, before continuing towards the village of Bajice. At the honey farm in Bajice we will visit an old family house of the local family and have a delicious lunch made from traditional products. Besides the delicious food and a great honey liqueur, we will learn a lot about the importance of beekeeping. After that we will continue our journey passing the old royal capital Cetinje until we will reach the capital of Montenegro.

Day 8: Rare bird species on a beautiful sea day (Podgorica)
After a leisurely breakfast at the hotel we start our journey towards Virpazar and have the whole day to explore the beauty of the largest lake of the Balkan Peninsula. After a short stop in Virpaza, a medieval fishing village and market place, we will start our 1:30 hour boat trip. We will enjoy the beautiful scenery, look out for some rare bird species and if the weather permits, go for a swim. For refreshment, our host will serve us delicious homemade donuts and drinks on the boat. Before continuing the trip to the winery, we will stop at an old fishing lake and an important place in Montenegrin history - Rijeka Crnojevica. Since the whole region is known as a wine region, we will take the opportunity to visit one of the local family wineries in one of the villages around the lake. We will get in touch with a family, get acquainted with the production of wine and learn about the family history and tradition of wine making. We will be able to taste different types of wine, but also brandies, liqueurs and local products of the region. After our visit we will go back to our accommodation in Podgorica, where we will finish the evening.

Day 9: Day trip to Albania (Ohrid)
Today, after breakfast, we set off for the Albanian town of Shkoder. Before we arrive we will make a stop for a delicious lunch. Once in Shkoder, we will visit the Rozafa Tower. Then we will continue to Tirana, the capital of Albania, where we will learn a lot about the communist history of the country and the dictator Enver Hoxha. For example, we will visit the largest of Albania's 700,000 bunkers. In the evening we will have dinner together at Lake Ohrid in Macedonia.

Day 10: Enjoy lunch with locals in North Macedonia (Bitola)
After our breakfast we will start our drive to the village Kuratica. From there we will take a short hike where we can enjoy the beautiful surroundings of the village. Together with the locals we will prepare a traditional lunch and enjoy our time together. We will have the opportunity to taste some traditional products that North Macedonia has to offer. After lunch, we will visit Galicica National Park, where we can enjoy a magnificent view of two lakes - Lake Ohrid and Lake Prespansko - from the mountain. After that we will drive towards Bitola, where we will have dinner and spend the night in Villa Dihovo.

Day 11: The tradition of beekeeping in Northern Macedonia (Krusevo)
After breakfast we will visit the local beekeeper where we will learn more about the tradition of beekeeping in Macedonia and taste the local honey before heading towards Pelister National Park to start our hike. Pelister National Park is the oldest in the country and has a very rich flora and fauna. From the highest peak, Jorgov Kamen, we will enjoy the magnificent view. During our tour we will cross a very old forest with an endemic pine species called Molika and will come across old trenches from the First World War. After the almost 10 kilometers long hike, we will end the evening together in one of the highest towns of the Balkan Peninsula, Krusevo.

Day 12: Kayak tour through Matka Canyon (Skopje)
After breakfast we start our two and a half hour drive towards Matka Canyon. Today a kayak tour through the canyon is on our program. You can look forward to 10 kilometers of beautiful views, clear water and a cave! After the tour we will have a relaxing lunch in a restaurant by the lake and continue our drive towards Skopje, the capital of Northern Macedonia. Once there, we will have time to explore the city on our own.

Day 13: The Skull Tower in Nis (Belgrade)
After breakfast we will start our way to the Serbian border and visit the town of Nis. Here we will have a relaxed lunch and visit the Cele Kula, the "Skull Tower". The Skull Tower is a stone structure with human skulls embedded in it. It was built by the Ottoman Empire after the Battle of Cegar in May 1809, during the First Serbian Uprising. After our stay we will start our drive back to Belgrade and will spend the last evening together with a delicious dinner and review all our experiences.

Day 14: Goodbye Belgrade! (Belgrade)
Today, unfortunately, it is time to say goodbye. After a last breakfast together in the hotel you will start your return or onward journey. We hope that you had an incredible time with us and that we can welcome you soon on another of our trips!
