After your long and relaxing trip to Costa Rica, you will be picked up at the airport and transferred to your first hotel. When you arrive in the morning, you will have time to look around San José, the capital of Costa Rica, freshen up or enjoy a short nap.
Together, you'll set out in the evening to participate in a traditional cooking class on your first night together and get to know the other TripLegends! Already on the first full day we exchange the backdrop of the capital for the Caribbean coast. Arriving at the beach of Puerto Viejo de Talamanca (often just called Puerto Viejo by locals), we have the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful nature and experience the Caribbean joie de vivre. Here you will find a lot of nature, many different restaurants, a lively nightlife and a unique mix of different cultures. Let yourself be enchanted and enjoy the afternoon in the sun.

Your highlight today: By canoe into the rainforest to the Bribri
Today we will go by canoe deep into the rainforest. Just before the border with Panama, we will reach a small village called Yorkín. Here we will meet an indigenous people, the Bribri, who invite us to learn more about their culture and traditions. They will show us how to use bow and arrow, how chocolate is made and how they build their houses.
In the evening, we may listen to stories about the Bribri culture, a tradition that has been passed down orally to the younger generation for centuries, over a communal campfire.

Your highlight today: Hike and bathe in a waterfall
After an invigorating breakfast, a new and exciting day begins: we will head to a beautiful waterfall on the Panamanian side of the Yorkín River. To get there we will hike through the wilderness for about an hour. At the waterfall we will have the opportunity to swim, relax or rest before we say goodbye to our hosts after lunch and head back to Bambú in a canoe to end up back on the Caribbean coast in Puerto Viejo at the end of the day.

Your highlights today: Snorkel in a coral reef and meet sloths in Cahuita National Park
We start our day with a snorkeling excursion in Punta Cahuita. We have about two hours to explore and admire Costa Rica's only fully developed coral reef and its inhabitants.
After the snorkeling tour we will go to the land part of the Cahuita National Park. During a hike of about 7 km we can admire the local wildlife: Sloths, capuchin monkeys, howler monkeys, colorful birds and butterflies, but also snakes meet us here. But don't worry - we will always be accompanied by experts. So: enjoy the closeness to nature and let yourself be enchanted by the animal diversity!

Your highlight today: Experience a rafting tour on the Pacuare River
Before breakfast we start our journey towards Siquirres. After a typical Costa Rican breakfast, we will be introduced to whitewater rafting before we plunge into the water and raft for about 30km on the wild Pacuare River through the beautiful rainforest.
After rafting, we will be served a delicious lunch at the Operations Centre before heading back towards Arenal.

Your highlights today: Enjoy fantastic views during a volcano hike
On a guided hike on the Arenal 1968 Trail, fantastic panoramic views of the Arenal Volcano await you while you learn about the native plant and animal species.
After lunch we have the possibility to stop at a small waterfall to cool down from the hike. Now you have the choice: You can either end your day comfortably at the hotel and with an exploration tour through La Fortuna or relax at the Paradise Hotsprings and enjoy a cozy buffet at the end of the day.

Your highlight today: Experience your favorite adventure in the rainforest
This morning you will be spoiled for choice. You can climb the suspension bridges in the rainforest, have a zipline adventure, or rappel down waterfalls while canyoning, depending on your preference. Since everyone may prefer to participate in a different activity, we leave the choice up to you here. You can simply add your desired adventure directly when booking. One thing is for sure - with all activities you will learn to love the rainforest of Costa Rica even more.
After the following lunch we will drive to Samara beach, where we can spend the rest of the day on the beach and swim.

Your highlight today: Spot dolphins on a sunset cruise
Today you have a chance to spend your day closer to the water. In the morning you can go by kayak to Isla Chora to swim with fish and relax. In the evening you can go on a boat trip to see dolphins and enjoy the sunset with some delicious drinks. Both activities can be added to your booking.

Your highlight today: Prepare your dinner at a cooking class
We start our last full day in Costa Rica with breakfast before heading to the beach. Here we have some time to relax, enjoy the sun, listen to the waves or explore the area once again.
Then it's back to San José, where we have a short time to stroll through the city before we meet in the evening for our last dinner together.

The last time we open our eyes in Costa Rica before we head to the airport after a last breakfast. The transfer to the airport is not included, but we will be happy to help you with the organization. An unforgettable experience - stay overnight with the Bribri tribe and get to know their daily life. It is a very simple accommodation, but exactly through this we support the indigenous tribe in their way of life. The common room is covered but open on the sides, so you can listen to the sounds of the jungle. Please note that running water cannot be guaranteed all the time.

Hotel Giada with its cozy atmosphere is the perfect place to be in Samara Beach. Decide for yourself if you prefer to spend some time relaxing by the pool or go directly to the beach, which is about 5 minutes walk away.

What is the minimum number of participants for the trip?
This trip has a minimum number of 4 guests. If this number is not reached 30 days before the scheduled date, TripLegend has the right to cancel the trip.
Can I arrive earlier or leave later?
You can individually plan a few days in advance or add a few days to all our trips, as it suits you best. Of course, we are also happy to give you tips for accommodation!
With whom do I share a double room?
By default, you will share a double room with a person of the same sex, but you are also welcome to book a single room.
What does your collaboration with local partners look like in concrete terms?
For us, supporting locals means working only with local guides, staying in local, family-run hotels, and eating at local restaurants. We often have a social/environmental cause that we incorporate into our trips (from volunteering at a wildlife rescue center in Namibia to the support of Buddhist monks in Nepal in their daily work or visiting a school in a Soviet ghost town in Kyrgyzstan and bringing soccer balls, books, pens, etc.).
