Your highlight today: Get to know life on the slopes of Kilimanjaro
In the first half of the day we will visit a nearby village on the slopes of Kilimanjaro. Colorful markets await us, we'll go to one of the local chagga bars, and don't forget your swimsuit to jump into the waterfall overlooking the valley!
In the afternoon, there will be a briefing where your guides will walk you through the upcoming trek, check your gear, and share some of their best tips and tricks for successfully climbing Africa's highest peak!

Your highlight today: Begin your ascent of Kilimanjaro
After breakfast, you will be picked up from your lodge in Moshi and driven to the starting point at Marangu Gate. The hike starts through the montane forest, passing dense rainforest and coffee plantations. A short excursion to the nearby Maundi Crater will give you a magnificent view over Kenya and Northern Tanzania.
We spend the first night of our Tanzania tour on the mountain ar Mandara Huts - a group of dormitory-like wooden huts with solar-generated lighting and all necessary facilities, including water and toilets.

Your highlight today: Hike across meadows and enjoy the view of the Mawenzi
On your second day, you will embark on a hike that leads to the Horombo Hut via a somewhat steeper trail. The trail passes through more montane forest before transitioning into the moorland vegetation zone, where you will encounter rolling alpine meadows with huge heather trees. During the hike you will have spectacular views of Mawenzi - the second highest peak in the area.
After about 6 hours of hiking you will reach Horombo Hut, where hot water for washing, dinner and overnight stay are waiting for you.

Your highlight today: Get a glimpse of the summit
After a hearty breakfast, you will continue hiking at a slow pace through the heath, which quickly turns into an almost moon-like landscape once you enter the saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo. During this hike you may experience mild symptoms of altitude sickness, but don't worry, your experienced guides will be there to assist you in any way they can, giving you tips and tricks. From here, you'll have a fantastic view of Kilimanjaro's peak before arriving at Kibo Hut - a hut with dry stone walls and dormitories. Rest up for the evening at Kibo Huts and prepare for your final ascent to the summit!

Your highlight today: Climb to the top!
Around midnight you will start the ascent to the summit. Head northwest through the massive scree and follow multiple switchbacks between the Ratzel and Rebmann glaciers until you reach Gilman's Point, where you'll have a great view of the crater. Your guide will set a leisurely pace and slowly progress to the summit as we hike along the crater rim for another hour before finally reaching the ultimate destination - Uhuru Peak!
Congratulations! You have now made it to the "Roof of Africa". It is important that you start your descent within a good time to make sure you get enough rest at Kibo Hut. After your rest, you will descend to Horombo Hut (3,720m) where you can enjoy your dinner and a well-deserved sleep!

Your highlight today: Get your summit certificate
After breakfast, you will begin the easiest part of your Kilimanjaro adventure via a scenic trail through the forest to Marangu Gate. Our shuttle will take us back to the hotel, and all successful hikers who have made it to Stella Point and Uhuru Peak will receive their summit certificates. Then it's time for a hot shower, dinner together and celebration with a well-deserved Kilimanjaro beer (or two).

Your highlight today: Experience game drives in Tarangire National Park
After a hearty breakfast, our safari adventure begins and we embark on our three-hour drive to the first stop in Tarangire National Park. Its sparse vegetation makes it a beautiful and special place where up to 300 elephants can be found foraging in the dry riverbeds for underground streams. Migrating wildebeest, zebra and buffalo can also be seen in the shrinking lagoons. At noon we will have a small picnic lunch before we start our game drive. Our night and evening will be spent at a campsite on the edge of Tarangire National Park.

Today our Tanzania round trip takes us to one of the most famous game parks in Africa, the Serengeti National Park! The vast expanses of the Serengeti are known for one of the most impressive wildlife spectacles in the world: the great wildebeest and zebra migration. They are also home to a variety of other wildlife including lions, cheetahs, leopards and many other predators. Today we will be able to discover all this on a game drive through the park.
We will spend the evening together on a campsite in the middle of nature in the Serengeti.

Your highlights today: Go on morning safari and climb a crater
A new safari day begins. Today, after breakfast and a morning game drive, we will head to the Ngorongoro Crater, one of the seven natural wonders of Africa, and explore the surrounding area. Here you can observe the diverse wildlife of Tanzania. Discover colorful flamingos, leopards, cheetahs, antelopes, black rhinos or prides of lions. After the exciting day and the many impressions we will drive to our campsite at the edge of the crater and enjoy the evening together.

Your highlight today: Hike into the crater and spot hippos at the hippo pool
Today our alarm clock rings very early to descend the 600 meter high walls to the bottom of the crater and experience the crater up close! The crater is on the UNESCO World Heritage List and is considered one of the most beautiful and unique places in Africa. Enjoy a new game drive and lunch right by the hippo pool. In the afternoon we will make our way back to Moshi, where we will spend our last evening together and review all the beautiful experiences.

What is the recommended weight for the daypack?
It is recommended not to take more than 7kg. You should take only the most necessary things, such as water, valuables, camera, snacks and rain protection.
What clothing should I pack for the trek?
Climbing Kilimanjaro involves crossing different climates, from equatorial rainforests surrounded by banana and coffee plantations to near-arctic conditions. Therefore, it is important to pack layered clothing. It's best to follow our packing list and you should be well prepared.
Is it possible to leave excess baggage behind during the Kilimanjaro trek?
Yes, luggage that you don't need during the trek can be dropped off and stored at our partner beforehand.
What is the weight limit for luggage on the Trek?
Each carrier can carry up to 20 kg of luggage including the mattress and a sleeping bag.
What is the weather like on Kilimanjaro?
Equatorial to arctic conditions prevail on Kilimanjaro. Depending on the chosen route, however, the hike is started in dry plains, or tropical forests with average temperatures between 25⁰C and 30⁰C. On the way to the permanently snow-covered summit, you pass through different weather zones. It is possible that on the hike you will experience rainfall and temperatures below freezing.
Do you tip the mountain crew?
Yes, tips for the helpers on the trek are welcome and expected. The amount depends on the number of days, but can range from $150 to $300 per trekker. Tips will be collected and divided among the crew.
Do you offer trip cancellation insurance?
Should you not be able to fly for health reasons, there is a Travel cancellation insurancee.g. from HanseMerkur.
What is the minimum number of participants for the trip?
This trip has a minimum number of 4 guests. If this number is not reached 30 days before the scheduled date, TripLegend has the right to cancel the trip.
Can I arrive earlier or leave later?
You can individually plan a few days in advance or add a few days to all our trips, as it suits you best. Of course, we are also happy to give you tips for accommodation!
With whom do I share a double room?
By default, you will share a double room with a person of the same sex, but you are also welcome to book a single room.
What does your collaboration with local partners look like in concrete terms?
For us, supporting locals means working only with local guides, staying in local, family-run hotels, and eating at local restaurants. We often have a social/environmental cause that we incorporate into our trips (from volunteering at a wildlife rescue center in Namibia to the support of Buddhist monks in Nepal in their daily work or visiting a school in a Soviet ghost town in Kyrgyzstan and bringing soccer balls, books, pens, etc.).
