What awaits you

Hello everyone! Ali is my name and I'm from Ireland! I am obsessed with traveling the world and having meaningful and authentic experiences. To date I have visited 42 countries and with each new country I fall even more in love with learning about new cultures. I have incredible news for you all! I am beyond excited to invite you on our next adventure to Uganda / the Pearl of Africa (it's rightfully named 100%)! Uganda is one of the most amazing countries I have ever visited and I guarantee you will fall in love with it too. During our trip, we will have the extraordinary opportunity to get up close and personal with wild gorillas in their natural habitat. Believe me, it's an experience that will bring tears of happiness to your eyes. But that's not all! We will also have the chance to see chimpanzees in their lush jungle environment and go on an exciting safari to look for the famous Big Five - lions, elephants, rhinos, leopards and buffalos. Not forgetting meeting crocodiles and hippos, which adds even more excitement to our trip. Uganda has so much to offer and I can't wait for you all to experience its breathtaking beauty and incredible wildlife. From the moment the plane lands you will be mesmerized by the wonders of this country. In Ireland, I organize social walks where I bring together a group of like-minded people to explore what Ireland has to offer. On each walk I am so happy to observe the most amazing connections and see everyone make lifelong friendships. On this trip I want you all to experience what I have experienced through traveling and organizing events, making new friends for life!!! Everyone is welcome, whether you are traveling with your partner or alone, you will quickly become part of our travel family. So, who is ready to embark on this unforgettable adventure with me? Ali X

Your highlight today: Get to know Sarah-Kim and your fellow travelers personally

After your arrival at the airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your local guide. Together with your fellow travelers, you will be driven to the hotel, where you can settle in. In the evening, we will all get to know each other a little better at our welcome dinner and look forward to the adventures ahead.

Your highlight today: Explore the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary

After a first breakfast together we will start our Uganda round trip towards Fort Portal. On the way we will stop at a local market where our guide will show us around and we can taste delicious fruits.

We continue towards Kibale Forest National Park, an incredibly diverse forest that is home to over 13 primate species. It is absolutely a matter of luck how many of them we will see in the next few days. So, fingers crossed! Here we already have the best chances to meet the first primates. Nust a few minutes drive from Kibale Forest lies the Bigodi Wetlands Sanctuary, where today we can meet a variety of animal species. The sanctuary was built to protect the jungle swamp and the animal species that live here. And if time permits, we will join a hike through the community and Bigodi Swamp to learn more about the 130 species of birds and the way of life of the local people. We will end the evening with a leisurely BBQ at our lodge.

Your highlight today: Meet the chimpanzees!

Today it's time to get up early to discover our closest living relatives in Kibale Forest National Park - The Chimpanzees! With the experienced guides and rangers at our side, we explore the area and learn a lot about the different members of the chimpanzee families as well as the birds and flora of the forest. If we are lucky, we will also meet a small forest elephant, the buffalos or antelopes on our way. Also for bird and butterfly lovers the Kibale forest is a real paradise!

After the incredible new impressions we will have lunch together at Tinka's guesthouse and listen to exciting stories about the Tooro tribe. After a short exploration tour in Kasese, we will go back to the lodge. Now it is time to gather strength for the next day!

Breakfast, lunch, dinner

Sandton Hotel Kasese

Your highlights today: Hike through the Rwenzori Mountains and discover Queen Elisabeth Park

Today a very special hike through the Rwenzori Mountains awaits us: On the way to our destination we have the chance to spot different primate groups and many other animal and plant species. For example, near our lunch spot at 2,570m we can spot large groups of the black and white colobus monkeys or blue monkeys. Before heading back down, we will climb up to a small cave that used to be used by poachers.

Our next destination is Queen Elisabeth National Park, whose diversity we will explore over the next few days. In the center of the park lies the Kazinga Channel, on whose banks large mammals such as hippos, elephants and buffalos as well as over 600 bird species cavort - more than in any other national park in Uganda! All this you will discover today, before we finish the evening together.

private transfer (approx. 110 km/2 hours), hiking (8-12 hours)

 Engiri Game Lodge

Your highlight today: Go on a boat safari on the Kazinga Channel

We leave early in the morning for our morning game drive: lions, antelopes, leopards and possibly even a giant forest pig (the largest pig in Africa) await us. Keep your eyes open!

After our safari, we return to the lodge to relax for a few hours and have lunch before heading out in the afternoon for our next adventure: a water safari on the Kazinga Channel, which connects the two lakes Edward and George. You'll spot African Scissor-bills, White Pelicans, Spoonbills and a variety of bee-eater species. Hippos wallow at the water's edge, giant crocodiles sunbathe and elephants come to the river to drink. The boat safari is sure to be a highlight of your trip.

Your highlights today: Help with the Kataara Women's Project and explore the twin lakes

Today we have a very special excursion on our program: We visit the Kataara Women's Project. This was established as a source of income, nature conservation project and animal protection project. So an exciting and educational experience awaits us! We will make handicrafts, improved cookstoves and briquettes on site. We will also have the opportunity to take a coffee tour and a hike through the community.

Around late afternoon we will hike to the twin lakes and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the surroundings. We will have a sundowner and reflect on our new findings and impressions. If we still have time and desire afterwards, we can end the evening around the campfire.

 Engiri Game Lodge

Your highlight today: Get to know the Batwa

Today we continue to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, where we will spend the next nights. The National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most biologically and botanically rich regions in the world. The most revered species are the approximately 400 wild mountain gorillas, which make up half of the world's population of this ape species. So you can look forward to an exciting experience.

After a few hours drive, we will take a walk through the village of Buhoma in the afternoon, visit one of the handicraft stores and meet the Batwa, an ancient forest dwelling tribe. Full of anticipation for the upcoming next day, we will end the evening together in our lodge.

Breakfast, lunch, dinner

 Rushaga Gorilla Haven Lodge

Your highlight today: Get very close to the mountain gorillas

Today is our unique adventure: the gorilla hike. Guided by rangers, we head off into the jungle-like forest. The mountain gorillas are monitored around the clock for our own safety, so we will almost certainly get to see them. Once we find the gorilla family, the guides will interpret and explain the behavior of the animals to us. We will have the chance to see females and their young, young males and even a dominant silverback: eating, playing, interacting with each other or just sleeping! This is definitely a day you won't forget in a hurry.

Back at our lodge we will enjoy our last evening before making our way back to Entebbe tomorrow. Those who wish can optionally join our guide and visit the Batwa Tribe for 3 - 4 hours.

Proof of a yellow fever vaccination is mandatory for all travelers over the age of one year. Due to the recurring outbreaks of yellow fever, vaccination is also medically advisable. Make sure that the standard vaccinations are up to date according to the vaccination calendar of the Robert Koch Institute. Vaccinations against hepatitis A are recommended as travel vaccinations, and against hepatitis B, typhoid, rabies and meningococcal disease (ACWY) for long-term stays or special exposure. Also ensure full vaccination protection against poliomyelitis (polio). Malaria: Malaria is transmitted by crepuscular and nocturnal Anopheles mosquitoes. There is a high risk of transmission throughout the country and throughout the year, especially during the months of maximum rainfall (April to May, November). Plasmodium falciparum (causative agent of malaria tropica) is detected in approximately 99% of cases. To avoid malaria, protect yourself consistently from insect bites as part of exposure prophylaxis. Depending on the travel profile, chemoprophylaxis (taking tablets) is also advisable in addition to the necessary exposure prophylaxis. Various prescription drugs (e.g. atovaquone-proguanil, doxycycline, mefloquine) are available on the German market for this purpose. Discuss the choice of medication and its personal adaptation as well as side effects or incompatibilities with other medications with a tropical medicine doctor or travel physician before taking it. It is recommended to take a sufficient supply with you.

Please note that the itinerary, activities and hotels may be subject to change.
